There are no stars here, and no score. A badge says how long someone has been part of the neighborhood and the kind of thing they tend to do — not how good they are at it. Whether someone is worth borrowing a lathe from is a judgement to make from their work and your conversation, not from a label we assigned.
Nobody hands badges out, including us. Each one is worked out from what you have actually done on MakerNeighbor — events that went ahead, replies on neighbors' requests, how long you have been here — every time your profile is shown. If the reason goes away, so does the badge.
Prefer not to show them? Turn off “Show my badges” in your privacy settings and they are hidden from everyone but you.
Every member is a neighbor. There are no moderator ranks to apply for; reports go to a person who reads them. Hosting an event does not make you staff, and nothing you do here gives you authority over another member's account.
