Community guidelines

This is a small place where people know roughly where each other live. That asks for a bit more care than the average feed.

Be someone your neighbors would lend a tool to

Disagreement is fine. Contempt is not. If you would not say it to someone standing in their own driveway, it does not belong in the feed.

Do not share anyone's location

We go to real lengths to keep exact addresses private. Posting someone's address, or details specific enough to identify their house, undoes that for them permanently. This is the one rule where a single violation is enough to remove an account.

Say what you can actually do

List the tools you have and the skills you have. An overstated profile wastes a neighbor's afternoon, and word travels fast in a group this size.

Sell sparingly, help generously

Charging for your time and materials is expected — this is not a volunteer site. But a feed that is only listings stops being a neighborhood. Post what you made, not just what you are selling.

Keep other people's projects theirs

Photos and designs shared here belong to whoever made them. Ask before reposting, and do not take someone's design file to sell as your own.

What happens when something goes wrong

Most problems are a misunderstanding, and a note usually settles it. When it does not, a report reaches a person who will read the whole thread before doing anything. Depending on what happened, that means a conversation, a removed post, or a removed account.
